Since 1958 the Long Beach Community Concert Association (LBCCA)
has offered affordable and high quality musical entertainments for
the Greater Long Beach community. A selection of professional performers
is presented each season, providing audiences with a range of choral,
instrumental, variety and ethnic dance concerts.
The LBCCA is committed to providing high quality entertainment experiences
at the lowest possible prices, ensuring that Long Beach area senior
citizens and others on fixed incomes have access to the performing
arts. In the Southern California area, there are a host of cultural
and entertainment choices, but the options for seniors on a fixed
income and those with limited night vision are not as varied. In
the summer there are free outdoor concerts in the Long Beach parks,
courtesy of the Municipal Band and the Long Beach Community Band,
but during the fall, winter and spring (the seasons during which
LBCCA performs) these free concerts are not available. All of the
LBCCA concerts are held at 2pm on Sunday afternoons, so that seniors
and multi-generational families that include seniors may attend
a full-length live performance and still get home before nightfall.
While LBCCA concerts are not free, they are certainly one of the
best concert values in the Southland, particularly for subscribers.
At $81 per subscription package, the price for each individual concert is about $20, compared to an average ticket price of $35-$60 charged by other presenters in the area for the same type of shows. The extremely high rate and early return of subscription renewals
indicates our audiences also believe LBCCA offers a very good value.
